Enabling E-Mail Alerts
 The
"E-mail Alert Address Settings" Window.
You can configure Visual Hindsight to automatically send alert
e-mails when it fails to connect to a camera. To enable E-mail Alert functionality, fill in the fields as follows:
- Enable alert e-mail using SMTP: Click to check the
check-box. This turns on Visual Hindsight's alert feature. Note:
You can fill in all fields for later usage without enabling
alerts by not checking this field.
- Outgoing mail (SMTP server name): Enter the server
name for the outgoing SMTP mail server, for example: mail.yourhost.com.
- Sender e-mail address: Enter a valid e-mail address
from which you'd like these messages to appear, for example:
admin@yourhost.com.
- Recipient e-mail address (separate with ; if more than
one): Enter the recipient's (or recipients') e-mail address(es)
here, separated by semi-colons. These are the e-mail addresses
to which you wish the alert to be sent, for example: operator@yourhost.com;
backup@yourhost.com; tech-support@yourhost.com. Note:
When entering multiple addresses, be sure to use the ; (semicolon)
to separate each address.
- E-mail subject: Enter the subject of the e-mail alert
here, for example: "Visual Hindsight E-mail Alert".
- E-mail message: Enter the (brief) message text in
this field.
- Time between alerts (after initial alert, in minutes
or hours): Select minutes or hours using the radio buttons,
then fill in the appropriate numerical value (for example: 30
Minutes or 1 Hour) in the field provided. This will cause Visual
Hindsight to send one alert between each time period specified.
When you've filled
out all fields, click OK to save your
settings. Note: You may disable E-mail Alerts at any
time (while preserving your settings) by removing the check
on the "Enable alert using SMTP" checkbox".
Note: To verify your settings, click the Test button to
generate and send a test e-mail to and from the addresses and servers
you've defined.
